I was excited to try this new restaurant but the food came to our table hot and burnt. Since it was my first time at the restaurant I wanted to ask the waitress some questions about the meals and she basically didn't know what I was talking about because she didn't speak English. But one thing she did know how to say was more tip at the end. Unbelievable. Never go there.
MoreI always discover the best stuff to eat when I'm not looking for them. This was one such instance. The beef at this place was so delicious- I would return just for that beef. The rest of the meal (we got bbq) was nothing special.
MoreIncredible amount of fresh tasty Korean food; waitresses were very polite and helpful.
MoreGot the short rib bbq and talked the future. Great dinner!
I went with my family to have some Korean barbecue and I was satisfied with the restaurant. The service was pretty good, and I really loved the food. I would definitely go back next time I visit Manhattan
MoreWe came as a family with our baby boy. The people was really nice and helpful. We ordered two entrees and a soup. They gave us streamed egg on the house. A really nice place and we'd go back next time we are in New York City.
MoreThe original fresh vodka made me feel good and didn't burn badly like my dads. The food was good lots of plates. The neighborhood was filled with horrible smells and I want to go home please, it's too loud and crowded here. Thank you. Has restroom.
MoreI went here around midnight on a Friday/Saturday. The service was uneven (excellent at first but incredibly slow after we finished the beef course) and the prices are fairly steep. Still, the taste/quality of the food is top-notch, and everyone was extremely friendly. They bbq the food for you, which is different from other Korean bbq places that I have been to.
MoreIt was my second time here today for this year and I am once again satisfied by the quality of food (incredible all-time favorite grilled mackerel!) and service. I love all the soups from the spicy choices to the non-spicy. The side dishes were excellent too although I am not sure why my favorite anchovies were missing. Although I did not have BBQ today, my family had it the last time and it was very good. Lastly the staff were very polite, extra attentive and constantly checking your needs without being annoying.
MoreReally loved this place. I wanted something spicy and wasn't disappointed, I have a high tolerance for spice. I had the Tripe soup and was really pleased. The service was amazing! I'll definitely be going back.
MoreGreat and fast service! With delicious food of course!
Good service. Fresh food and made in front of your eye. A lil' pricey but...oh well!
MoreAverage service, many selections of Korean cuisine. Stews are good but free appetizers just a bit below average
MoreI don't know what it is about Korean food, but I find fascinating. I think that's why I keep finding myself at these types of restaurants. Shilla is typical of what you might find in K-town. The majority of the menu is geared towards Korean BBQ. Your order your protein (beef, poultry, or fish) raw and its cooked at the table. I think it makes for a fun an immersing experience. Also, the sides, I can't seem to get enough of them, especially the Kimchi based ones. They're great if you love the spicy stuff.Like many of the BBQ places in this part of town, it can get a bit pricey. But they do have a happy hour menu which includes an appetizer, choice of meat, and I believe dessert, all for around $15. The catch is you have to order at least 2, one for you and presumably your dining partner. Personally I don't think it's a bad deal, it also gives you a chance share and try more meats.
MoreThis place is huge, 3 levels of BBQ goodness. Immediate lunchtime seating and very short wait for dinner. Meat quality is excellent and the combo deals are a great value and on the last visit they threw in an extra steamed egg dish. Wait staff is very attentive and will handle all the grilling for you.
MoreThis place needs to be skipped. Food and service not good. Bad food, not very Korean.
MoreAuthentic, I think. Delicious.
Another great Korean place in New York. Very welcoming environment combined with with hospitable staff members. Add great food to that and you got another must visit spot in Manhattan.
MoreShilla is one of the fancier looking restaurants in K-Town and you guessed it, one of the more expensive ones as well. The service comes with it. Since there is not much space for dishes on the table, the waitress serves everyone a portion individually on their plates. The majority of the table is a barbecue grill. You cook your own food here. It's an authentic Korean bbq experience!
MoreGreat place to bring people who haven't experienced Korean BBQ before. Solid food, great meats, and decent service. For three to four people, getting a few different meats plus a hot stone is a great way to get some tasty variety.
MoreI enjoyed this restaurant very much. I have read other reviews claiming that portions were small, lukewarm, not well-made, etc, but I had no complaints. We absolutely couldn't finish our meals, they were so large. We could easily have fed two more people with what we left behind. They provide many side dishes, and when you first sit down each person is given an entire grilled/fried fish. Everything was delicious, and while it's not cheap, exactly, it didn't seem pricey when you compare it to other sit-down restaurants. This is not fast food, nor is it pizza or tacos. Our servers were efficient and attentive, but they are focused on moving quickly and are not chatty the way many servers in restaurants are trained to be these days. That was fine with me. My questions were answered, and that's all that I really cared about.
MoreReasonably priced, good food, superb service, and its 24 hours! Relaxed atmosphere, low music, very clean composite stone table tops. Service is prompt, and outgoing.Might not be the best food of Little Korea, but you can spend all night here (:
MoreI had the calvitan and BBQ both were very tasty ! Nice place and great people serve !! Prices are very good too, nice value.
MoreBBQ was expensive and not all meat was amazing. The rest of the food was good. Setting is not nice at all. Bathroom is clean. Service is great.
MoreI loved the fooddd. When I go to new York again I will definitely be going to this Korean restaurant again. ☺
MoreI live this place. When you can find an ethnic restaurant where you are the only native English speaker then most times you've got the jackpot.Great service, great food, the pork belly was delish. Authentic Korean food.
MoreLove the beef here! The marinade is really good. The pork was a little lacking, but the beef more than made up for it. Good service too, which is rather unusual in K town
MoreGood place. Food was good and service was quick
Please come to Flushing for real Korean Food! The rent is steep but really? The Flushing location is better by Far!
MoreThe dumpling soup, bi bim bop and stone pot were quite good and everything came out rather quickly. Service was generally good, and they certainly don't rush you out. One drawback to this is that once the food was served, it was generally hard to get a hold of someone to get leftovers wrapped, and a check to pay.
MoreThe restaurant is my favorite place because they have best quality BBQ in K-twon. I especially love their special short rib BBQ. The taste is awesome.
MoreThe quality of the food was not that great. For instance the Kim-chi was kind of dry and tasteless. Worst ever. The waiter was rushing us, though there wasn't any reason to because the restaurant was only half full. The BBQ came before the appetizers. And the mandu were dry and must have been in the fryer or oven far too long. Because we couldn't eat all at once the meat became dry and the mandu cold. There were also some positive things, but I can't find any reason to mention them after this experience. Buyer be warned.
MoreNot bad for quick bite late in the evening. Kimchi soup was great but a bit too sour
MoreThe pictures on the menu are misleading and deceptive. I expected an egg for the tofu soup as shown in the picture, but when I asked, they said there is no egg. It is overpriced! Go to BCD tofu house where they provide better quality food and appetizers.
MoreI was very satisfied with this place. I went with my friend at her recommendation and ordered some prime rib barbecues, which I loved. I strongly recommend this dish and the restaurant to whoever wants to try some Korean food at NYC.
MoreWeird fried mandu but great everyhing else!
Great place to bring a large group. The vibe is very wholesale Korean barbecue with a welcoming environment. You can really appreciate the food they prepared. There are three floors, but honestly my favorite is the third. If you're looking for high quality, fast Korean barbecue, this should be a go to spot.
MoreWorst customer service ever. The waitress had a huge attitude. The food was not good either. Avoid this restaurant. There are many other better ones around.
MoreSurprisingly, this place has the best authentic spicy rice cake in Manhattan. Most place had the watered down, "westernized" ddokboki. It's the real spicy deal here.
MoreIt's pretty hard to do Korean BBQ wrong when you're cooking it yourself. With that said I enjoyed the service and the wait wasn't too bad compared to some of the other restaurants I've been to on the same block.
MoreWell I took my daughter out to Shilla and thought I was going to have a good time eating Japanese BBQ. When we got there we were seated in a nearly empty restaurant and while we sat there a waiter passed us by at least 3 times. We weren't given water or offered any water we sat there for about 15 minutes waiting for a waiter until I got fed up and left, Someone from the restaurant asked us to stay but I refused. Im not sure if it was a race thing so Im not going there but I'll never go there again there are other Japanese BBQ places in Korea Town. When we left we did see the waiter having a smoke guess he wasn't too busy huh. On a brighter note we did find a much better restaurant in the area. I was really disappointed not for myself but for my daughter who heard such raves about this place and got the total opposite what a shame. From the other reviews of this place it should be avoided at all costs
MoreFirst time there and the food was delicious. Wait staff amazing and wonderful.
The Korean BBQ here is fantastico! The service here is great. Meat is fresh. The side dishes are plenty and tasty. Get off your butt and get some meat!
MoreGreat food and service, but mediocre atmosphere.
Great spicy pork and abundant side dishes. A tad bit on the pricier side but we had a great meal here.
MoreYou can get much better choice around this area, just not this restaurant. Side dishes are not so good, I know summer may not be the season for perfect kimchi and marinated food but they don't taste fresh to me. Entrees are fine, we had ox bone soup and Bibimpab, both served hot and enough to fill us two. The restaurant is pretty clean plus good location. I was there on Saturday and I know it is normal that restaurants don't provide lunch special on weekend. Even though we had some really simple food, we were charged $40 for two and they DID NOT even serve us with water or offer anything but are asking for 15% tips after I refused once (was planning to give 10% for lack of services but was rudely pointed by a male waitress saying we had to pay 15%, ridiculous.)I will never recommend anyone to go there, doesn't worth it and ruin your day.
MoreI liked the barbecue and the service! It was my first time to be there with my family, and we enjoyed the fresh barbeque and many other side dishes. I felt this place has more modern atmosphere than other korean restaurants in the street.
MoreBbq and service was great. The pork belly was very good. I'll go back.
Fantastic food for very reasonable prices in cosy surroundings. Lots of free dishes with every meal. You can have your meats cooked literally in the middle of your dinner table. By the way, we ate there on a Sunday afternoon, so it's not closed on Sunday.
MoreI had dinner with my family at this restaurant. Unfortunately, the waiters are rude and not passionate. They are not really think you as customers. Foods are not as described as in the menu, poor quality. Price is too expensive for this kind of food quality. We end up not finish the dinner and moved to other fine restaurant. Not recommended.
